    Motherhood: Building a Legacy-Audio Workshop
    with Cindy Rushton

Motherhood. You are building a legacy. Sound intimidating? Rather let someone else go for that? There is no getting out of this call. We all build. Either we are building a godly legacy or we are tearing down our home with our own hands. There is no in between. We are building a legacy for generations that we will never see. (more…)

  • Depressed??? Try This…

Depressed? Down? A bit SICK-AND-TIRED? Weary? Desperate for a change?

Sweet friend, I have been there. Actually, I was so deeply depressed that the best way to describe it is to think about the Grand Canyon with no apparent way out. That is how I felt. I felt too tired and weary to even begin the ascent back out. I was overwhelmed with the load. I could not go on the way I was going any longer.

    I do have good news!

God healed me from depression. He broke the chains that bound me for far too long. He gave me a new beginning. I have never gone back. Now, this does not say that I am living in some fantasy world. Sweet friend, I KNOW depression. But, I hate it. I do not ever want to go there again.

Wondering, how do you stay away? How do you stop its vicious attack right in its tracks? (more…)

  • Never Give Up in the Battle by Lucia Claborn

Are you ever tempted to give up in the heat of the battle? Sure, you are! We (including me) have all wanted to quit at some point in time because life’s situations just got too hard, we could see no way out — no help on the horizon – and thought it better to find a cypress tree and have a pity party for ourselves.

However, you need to know that God didn’t draw you to Himself, and then anoint you with the power of the Holy Spirit to be a quitter! He made you to be a winner, an overcomer, in every area of your life.

You may have never been told that before, so I get the wonderful pleasure of telling you now…God created you to triumph! “Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ Jesus…2 Corinthians 2:14a.

No matter what life’s situation is that you are facing and need to conquer, you must make a decision that you are never going to give in or give up! (This is exactly what the devil wants you to do…give up and quit! Don’t give him the satisfaction of beating you!) One key to victory is continuing to do the right thing with the right attitude and refusing to quit! (more…)

  • I Think I Am Solar-Powered…. I NEED The Son!!! by Elisabeth Rushton

I have always loved being outside and in the sun! I do not know exactly why, but I do!!

Hot weather. No prob! “The hotter the better” is always my mind-set!

Now getting a sun tan isn’t just about “ME” though. When I am suntanning, I usually do my quiet time, work on articles, read through and do my school work and copywork. I love that time to just have time to meditate on God’s Word and pray (talk) to Him!! Something about that time takes my focus off of the busyness, the pressures, and everything else that life can bring my way…and turns my complete focus upon Jesus. (more…)

  • Things I LOVE About the Charlotte Mason Approach by Cindy Rushton

I remember the day that one of my dearest friends introduced me to the Charlotte Mason Approach. It was a day that defined our homeschool.

It was the end of our very first year of homeschooling. I was having an afternoon of sewing and smocking with my friend (I taught classes on sewing and smocking as a part of my home sewing business). We had stopped our work to have tea. While we were having tea, I shared with her about the ups and downs of my first year of homeschooling. She was a homeschooling veteran. I really respected her ideas and opinions. She was rock-solid. I was SO impressed by her children and all that they had accomplished homeschooling. I shared with her that there were a few things that just worked GREAT for us….others that were, ugh, a nightmare! She was sooo calm as she declared a truth that would set me free to find the philosophy of education that was just for me and my children. She told me that I sounded like the perfect Charlotte Mason/Unit Study mom. As I listened to her ideas for getting to know more about those approaches, I thought back to the very first book that I had bought— Books Children Love, which was written with suggestions for great books to be sure to read to your children while they were growing up. And…another book, For the Children’s Sake, which just grabbed me! (more…)
