The ideology that the church cannot take part in affairs of the state is a FALSE TEACHING. It is a deception of the enemy. It is not biblical. It is not Constitutional.
This ideology is at the root of many of our societal ills from political issues to abortion to the crumbling away of all our major cultural institutions.
Much is coming from our pulpits. It was planted in our own seminaries. It has now grown into a cultural norm that is rooted now in “traditions” of the last 2-3 generations rather than the intentions of our forefathers
It is deceptively enslaving the church and silencing her voice.
It is at the core of the decline of the church.
It is the root problem behind all of the things many in the church condemn, such as poverty, abortion, sex and human trafficking, censorship, LGBT issues, gender issues, and even social justice. The church does with it the sane thing the church is doing with missions, integrity, calling, and life purpose—condemning or ignoring or shifting it to the government without even engaging with those struggling in front of us. No wonder the culture is in crusts.
I studied a while back through a course that specifically focused on the true biblical approach to balancing kingdom and culture.
Our calling is clear—to bring the kingdom of God into ALL OUR CULTURE.
Doing that one thing brings salt and light into the culture and as a result we see true transformation of our culture…no one can truly come in contact with the fire of the Holy Spirit without being drawn to it.
In my research for that course, I found a hard debate going on. I hear it in ministerial circles in spite of the clarity of the Word of God.
Scripture is clear, but the error is deeply rooted. It completely influences everything—cultural engagement, interpretation of scripture (and constitution as well), tolerances of societal ills, influence upon the culture, and oversight of representatives.
If the church had not failed miserably beginning at our seminaries and continuing into our pulpits, this ideology and false teaching would not exist and as a result, our public square would look far, far different.
So what do we do now?
It is time for a personal revival. Not an emotional buzz at an event. I’m talking about a real encounter with Jesus Christ that lets Him into every area of life. An encounter that will carry us into the very deep presence of God—in the Holy of Holies.
It is in the secret, sacred place alone that we will find intimacy—an intimacy that will transform our lives so we bear the image of Jesus. When we get that intimate with Him, a fire will rage in and through us that will draw all men and all women to our Jesus.
Today. draw near…so near you catch on fire!
