Having a hard time forgiving someone? Sick and tired of their stuff?
Goodness, we all hit this space from time to time. They have crossed the line for the umpteenth time. It demands forgiveness AGAIN.
How on earth do you do it?
Let’s do this together…
Why not sit down and write out a big long list of all they have done to offend you, hurt you, embarrass you, overlook you, and break your heart.
Dump it all out!
Go over your list and really make sure it is all listed.
Then-here is one more step-take out another piece of paper and make a list of your own failures, mistakes, omissions, blind-spots, choices, and decisions.
Not just the ones you have done to them-that is a nice starting place; but everything.
EVERYTHING
This is your safe space. Really dump it out. Pour it out.
Go over your list and make sure it is all there.
Even those little ugly things you think no one knows about.
Then, make a big decision.
Do you want FREEDOM?
Do you want PEACE?
Do you want REST, REAL REST for your heart and soul?
It only comes one way—Mark 11:25 tells us how…
And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop.
Let it drop.
Drop it.
Take those lists and tear them up. Maybe even burn them (I did that this week and it was SOoooOOooo good!) Drop them.
A sweet freedom is found in forgiveness.
